Overview

China House Restaurant, nestled at 7700 Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights, CA, stands as a solid choice for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine in a casual setting. Its menu spans classic favorites—from Chow Mein and Mongolian Beef to the ever-popular Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken—offering a diverse range that caters to both traditional palates and those craving a bit of spice.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is clean and inviting, with friendly staff who help maintain a welcoming environment whether you choose to dine in or opt for takeout. This quality is echoed in numerous customer experiences that praise the attentive service and prompt food delivery. The space itself feels comfortable, ideal for families or individuals looking for a reliable meal without fuss.

As for the food, the portions are notably generous, ensuring that guests leave satisfied. Dishes like Sweet and Sour Chicken and Beef in Garlic Sauce demonstrate a well-rounded menu that touches on familiar flavors while maintaining freshness, as verified by loyal patrons who have frequented China House for years. However, some diners note that certain items, such as the broccoli beef, could benefit from bolder seasoning to match the high standards set by other dishes on the menu.

The restaurant also shines in its beverage selection, offering traditional accompaniments like Green Tea alongside more uncommon options such as Rootbeer, complementing the meal experience. Popular appetizers like Crab Rangoon and Cheese Fried Wontons provide a crunchy, savory start, enhancing the overall satisfaction.

China House primarily caters to a local audience looking for dependable Chinese cuisine—whether for a quiet dinner or a quick takeout fix. The steady stream of takeout orders on quiet weeknights suggests trust in the kitchen’s consistency, while the dining space remains a spot for casual gatherings.

In summary, China House Restaurant offers a dependable, no-frills Chinese dining experience marked by generous portions, friendly service, and a menu that balances classic dishes with subtle modern touches. While seasoning might not excite every palate, the overall experience is one of comfort and familiarity, making it a worthy stop for those in Citrus Heights seeking hearty Chinese fare.

We've been to this spot twice and although the portions are spectacular, the taste / seasoning is not. The flavor is lacking, you'd get more flavor out of a store bought sauce packet of broccoli beef, and prices are VERY over priced for what you get. Imagine spending $16.00 for a handful of wings? ( 6 wings ) Dude was nice at the counter though. Still no indoor dining. Here's updated prices.
